About: Marisol Turres has served the House of Representatives since 2006, District 57  integrated by the cities of Calbuco, Cochmo, Maullin and Puerto Montt. Political party: Independent Democratic Union.  Profession: Attorney. Date of birth: July 13, 1964 E-mail:

General Information: Maried with four children.  She attended elementary school at The Carmelitas, San Felipe. Junior High: San Felipe Benicio, Coyhaique. High School: N. 7 Providencia.  University: University of Chile. District President (#57) Independent Democratic Union.

Comissions: Constitution, Legislation and justice. Local government.  Interest: Disability, safety and drugs. Investigates irrgularities of the state railways and invastigates about the irregularities of SENAME {National Service for Minors (president)}

A. General

(A.1) Background: She uses a picture of Puero Montt as a background picture as part of district # 57.

(A.2) Avatar: As an avatar she has a picture of her and the presidential candidate Sebastian Pinera and also former Senator from the same political party.

(B.1) Replies: She has few replies (but she just started to use Twitter as tool to mantain the people of district #57 informed)

C. Questions/Suggestions
(C.1) To tweet or add some information for people on how to get her tweet through their cellphone, since computers are not as accessible as cellphones are in that area of Chile, so that more people could follow her tweets.

E. Conclusion

Marisol Turres has incorporate most of the social media tools in order to keep her district informed of her efforts as a Representative.  She just started to use Twitter in April, but from the beginning she has used a conversational tone and invites people to participate.  This part of Chile is a rural area, but she is trying to use every possible tool to keep the people of her district informed and engaged. Since this is a rural area and cellphones are more accessible, incorporating cellphone/mobile tools could increased the number of people who follows her through Twitter and other social media tools that she is already using.
