About: They don’t have any information on their website, however I found some background information on Wikipedia. El mercurio is a conservative newspaper in Chile.  It was funded by Agustin Edwards Mac-Clure in 1827. It has been one of the oldest Spanish speaking newspapers.

(5) Analysis

A. General

(A.1) Background: They use one of the background provided by Twitter. They can design their own background that reflects their area of business.

(A.2) Avatar: They use the logo used on their website. However it’s cut off, they need to work on the size of the design of the avatar so that it won’t be cut off.
(A.3) Transparency: Even though they only provide news headlines, they provide a comment/blog section on all their news so that people can participate or be part of the news as well.

B. Tweets

(B.1) Replies: She has few replies (but she just started to use Twitter as tool to mantain the people of district #57 informed)
(B.2) ReTweets: No use of ReTweets
(B.3) DM requests: No DMs
(B.4) Hashtags: No hashtags
(B.5) Favorite tweets: They do a great job on the way they write their headlines in less than a 140 characters so that they can have space for the shortened URL.
(B.6) Currently they only use Twitter to communicate the headlines of the latest news, no conversation has been establish in Twitter, but it has on their website blogs and comments.

C. Questions/Suggestions
(C.1) Maybe use some RT for some of their news since they already mention their source on their website.  Work on their profile design and identify the person who is doing the tweet by adding the initials. Once in a while they can provide certain public announcement or engage in a more casual conversation by even just send a tweet wishing to have a great day??

E. Conclusion

E-mol is using Twitter as a way to maintain its audience informed on the latest news.  This is important, because then the audience can decide which news to read and which ones not to. Most of the newspapers are using Twitter the same way, one suggestion is to work on their Twitter profile.
