Winner of nwsource.com’s people’s pick for best new neighborhood restaurant in 2008, and Evening Magazine’s Best Tapas, it is a family-friendly, casual dining establishment that invites us to enjoy a relaxed dining exprience while sampling Italian and Spanish comfort foods in their vibrant lounge. Its owners, Nicola Longo and John van Deinse are no strangers to the kitchen, and bring with them their love of and for the comfort foods and drink of Europe and the Mediterranean.

Blog carries a great mix of posts, ranging from educational tidbits (historical info about Italy or Italian cooking), re-posts of reviews, menu updates and specials and events. Because much of the information sharing happens on their blog (which they update regularly!), they are smart to put a prominent link on their homepage. I also like that you feel like a part of their community when you read through their blogs. Recent posts have included reviews of their dishes, posts from a culinary tour through Spain, Chef Demos at Metropolitan Market, and other events that they host and participate in.

Though the tweets seem to be a combination of personal/replies to followers, link sharing, and educational tidbits, they all still seem to be relevant to the persona they try to project–that of a friendly neighborhood restaurant interested in connecting with followers, and a resource for Italian food and culture.

What caught my attention is the number of followers it has for its fairly new web presence and it’s non-chain restaurant feel. In the three months that TwitterCounter tracked Tidbit Bistro’s Twitter profile, its followers grew over 400% from 1220 followers in April to 5431 followers this month. Aesthetically, the color scheme of muted colors and wine glasses gives off a calming vibe to this eating establishment. From having communicated with this establishment before via Twitter, I know that they do reply to @’s and invite (potential) customers and followers to stop in and often, and doesn’t hesitate to promote other local restaurants to its followers. Additionally, Tidbit Bistro does PR in a way that isn’t pushy and you find yourself checking their page often to hear more tidbits about food and culture, or to read up on the latest to their menu.
